Hi, I'm Victor

I'm a software engineer and technical leader based in Calgary. Most of my work lives where deep engineering meets real business stakes: payments, fraud, genetic data. Those are places where a system has to be right, not just fast.

Right now I'm Principal Software Engineer for AI at Payabli, building its AI infrastructure from the ground up: multi-agent workflows, an internal AI gateway, and customer-facing agents for risk analysis, fraud detection and merchant monitoring. I also founded Crafted AI, a gateway and assistant platform for companies putting AI into production, along with the engineering to get them there.

Before that I integrated DNA sequencers into lab systems at Helix, shaped the microservices architecture and risk engine at Payrix/Worldpay, and led teams at X-Team and Acquia. The common thread is systems that are scalable, secure and cost-effective, built to hold up over time rather than look good on day one.

How I work

I care about technical direction as much as code: mentoring engineers, shaping system design, and keeping technology decisions tied to business goals. I use domain-driven design and clean architecture because they keep complex systems maintainable as they grow, not because they're fashionable.

These days most of my attention goes to making agents reliable instead of experimental. That means evaluations, guardrails around tools and data, isolated runtimes for agent-written code, and observability for every token that leaves the building.
